   1.) Make a list of all the physical properties of sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, calcium carbonate, potassium carbonate, anthracene, biphenyl, and naphthalene. Including color, pH, etc…

   2.) Then make a list of experiments you can do to id each.
   Example:
   Participate formation (sodium bicarbonate and an acid will cause a thick white participate to form)
   Gas formation
   Color change (I believe when you heat biphenyl it changes color)
   Flame testing (?) if you are allowed

   3.) Finally make a flow chart of all expected results out of this. Start with the experiments that you can do by just looking at the unknown (color). Move to testing the pH. Then onto reactions and finally to flame tests to confirm.

   4.) Take your flow chart and make a step by step lab procedure for yourself to follow. Make sure to leave space for notes.

   5.) Have fun!
   What a fun experiment!!!

   Example:
   Color
   red—————-blue———-yellow ————-colorless—————etc
   pH
   Basic————-Neutral————–Acidic

   From there branch to things to add to each that will create a reaction or color change.
   Example: if you have 3 basic substances the addition of HCl to calcium carbonate will cause bubbling and if only one of three solutions that tested with a basic pH bubble you can say that that one is calcium carbonate.
